Welcome! The Teacher Portal is a professional, supportive space for teachers and teacher trainers. Please help us keep it positive and productive by following these guidelines.

• Be respectful & professional - Kind, courteous, constructive.
• Stay on-topic - Teaching, learning, and professional growth.
• Include everyone - Celebrate diversity & support new members.
• Share responsibly - Use your own materials or credit sources fully.
• Protect privacy - No sharing private information.

Don't

• Post offensive, discriminatory, or harassing content.
• Promote any religion or religious belief.
• Spam, advertise, or self-promote outside approved areas.
• Share student/colleague data or private messages publicly.
• Copy or distribute copyrighted resources without permission.
• Use AI transcription tools during live events - transcriptions will be available after webinars.

• Report inappropriate posts - hover over the profile picture and click ‘Report user’.

Moderation

• Posts will be removed if they break the rules.
• Community managers can remove membership immediately, if behaviour is thought to be offensive or inappropriate.

Be Respectful and Professional
• Treat all members with courtesy, empathy, and professionalism.
• Disagree constructively — critique ideas, not people.
• Do not use offensive, discriminatory, or harassing language or behaviour.

Keep It Relevant and Helpful
• Post content that’s relevant to language teaching, professional development, or community support.
• Avoid spam, advertising, or self-promotion outside of clearly designated areas.
• Use clear and accurate titles or descriptions when sharing resources.

Maintain Confidentiality and Privacy
• Do not share private information about students, colleagues, or employers.
• Respect others’ privacy — do not repost private messages or screenshots without consent.

Be Inclusive and Supportive
• Welcome teachers of all backgrounds, experiences, and teaching contexts.
• Use inclusive language and avoid assumptions about culture, identity, or ability.
• Offer encouragement and constructive feedback, especially to new members.
• Do not promote religion or religious beliefs, this includes sharing your own religious beliefs and or making assumptions about other people’s.

Follow Copyright and Academic Integrity
• Only share materials you have created or have permission to distribute.
• Give proper credit for any third-party resources, images, or ideas that you share on the Teacher Portal.
• Respect the intellectual property rights of the Teacher Portal including courses, lesson plans, activities, webinars and discussions.

Use Professional Etiquette Online
• Avoid excessive tagging or repeated posting of the same content.
• Stay on-topic in threads and use appropriate channels for your posts.
• Report inappropriate content to community managers rather than engaging in disputes. You can do this either by hovering over the profile picture of the post and clicking ‘Report user’ or by directly emailing the community managers: teacherportal@ihlondon.com.

Keep It Safe and Secure
• Don’t share login credentials or attempt to bypass security measures. If you have any difficulties logging in, please contact the team, teacherportal@ihlondon.com.
• Report any technical issues or suspicious activity to the community managers promptly.

Moderation and Enforcement
• Community managers will remove posts or accounts that violate these guidelines.
• Community managers can remove membership immediately, if behaviour is thought to be offensive or inappropriate.
• Community managers have the ultimate authority in deciding whether a member has breached any these guidelines or behaved inappropriately in any way.
